Getting started
What a practice session looks like, start to finish.
A session is three to five minutes. One sound set, then it stops. Short and repeatable works better than long and once.
Pick a sound set
Sound sets are organised the way therapy is planned: by sound, and by where the sound sits in the word. Beginning /s/ and ending /s/ are separate sets, because they are separate skills.
Pick the set the child is currently working on. If a speech-language pathologist assigned a target sound, that is the set to open.
Work the deck
Each card shows a picture and plays the word, spoken by a child’s voice. The child listens, then repeats it back. Swipe or tap to move to the next card.
The deck is the whole set, shuffled fresh each time, so the order never becomes something the child memorises instead of the sound.
Finish
The deck ends on a celebration screen. Stop there. The app has no streaks, no timers and no way to lose. Nothing here turns practice into pressure.
Settings worth knowing
- Printed words can be shown or hidden on the cards, depending on whether the child is reading yet.
- Restore purchases re-unlocks the full set of sounds on a new device.
